LIFTING THE LID ON THE MAGIC The Edinburgh Military Tattoo is a great international gathering. Every year, more than 100 million people around the world watch the Tattoo on TV … more than 12  million people from over 100 countries have experienced the Tattoo live at Edinburgh Castle … and more than 40,000 performers from over 40 countries have taken part.

The Tattoo, timeless yet ever changing, is one of the great entertainments on the world stage today.

Located in the heart of Edinburgh, nestling between the old and new towns, is the site of the new Edinburgh Tattoo Visitor Centre, which traces the history of the Scottish Capital's enduring entertainment experience over more than half a century.

While many visitors may not have the opportunity to visit the Tattoo in August, this year-round attraction provides a flavour of the colour and excitement for which the Tattoo is renown throughout the world.

Comprising an educational exhibition, video presentations, gift shop and ticket office,it is home to a comprehensive review of Scotland’s matchless spectacle of music, dance and display. The centre aims to be a factual, enlightening, moving and engaging look behind the scenes of the Nation's annual military showpiece event.
