‘Best of’ Audio & Pictorial Collections
Released to mark Farewell

Posted 25th July 2006

Graeme Wallace's new bookThe Edinburgh Military Tattoo has issued a 'greatest hits' collection CD and new pictorial book - in association with G W Publishing of Berkshire - to help celebrate its 57th season and as a final salute for retiring Producer, Brigadier Mel Jameson.

Foreign and home-grown acts who have appeared at the Tattoo feature on the 70-minute compact disc and in the beautifully illustrated 96-page hardback pictorial record of the event.

A total of 31 overseas groups feature on the album along with more than 37 British bands. The package - produced on the Tattoo's own record label - comes with a colour sleeve including previously unseen photographs taken by Scottish photographer, Graeme Wallace, who has also conceived and created this new coffee-table Tattoo pictorial review.

The book, which carries a foreword from Royal Tattoo Patron, HRH Princess Anne, takes a look behind-the-scenes during preparations, conveys a unique perspective of the main event while colourfully capturing the emotions and friendships developed over a Tattoo season.

Tattoo Tribute CDThe new album features 22 tracks dating from the Brigadier’s first production in 1995. It includes a unique collection of combined music by the Tattoo’s world-famous Massed Military Bands and Massed Pipes & Drums captured live performing acclaimed tunes such as Amazing Grace, Highland Cathedral, Hector The Hero, Mull of Kintyre, Caledonia and Gael.

It is expected that both the book and CD will appeal to a range of listeners and readers, including Scottish expatriates, people who have or plan to attend the event or who are just simply Tattoo fans as well as military music and literature aficionados.

Brigadier Mel Jameson, the Tattoo’s Chief Executive & Producer said: "These two fabulous new products will be a welcome addition to the collections of music and book enthusiasts everywhere."

The new album and book will be sold in major music and book outlets and sit on shelves alongside the latest best-sellers.

Copies may also be obtained from the Tattoo Shop, 33-34 Market Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1QB, at a cost of £12.00 for the book (with £1 from every book sale going to the Army Benevolent Fund), and £12.99 for the new Tribute CD, plus P&P where applicable. Purchases may also be made via the Internet at www.edintattoo.co.uk
