Captivating 2003 Tattoo released on Video and DVD
Posted 20th October 2003

This week sees the release of a new DVD and Video recording of highlights from this year's record-breaking 54th Edinburgh Tattoo.

With extraordinary exclusive footage not shown on TV and unprecedented behind-the-scenes access providing further previously unreleased material for the DVD, this impressive 90-minute programme captures the spectacular music and action from the Tattoo's most successful ever season.

An additional 20-minutes of never-before-seen bonus material is carried on the DVD where intimate preparations of some of the most demanding displays staged at the Tattoo are revealed alongside the stirring sights, sounds and music of an event probably unrivalled anywhere else in the world.

Said Tattoo Chief Executive & Producer, Brigadier Melville Jameson: "With the public's appetite for the Tattoo seemingly undiminished, this new film, which is likely to be popular, will I hope help relive some of those magical moments from August."

Featuring numerous bands from home and abroad, including the world-famous Massed Pipes & Drums, Switzerland's Top Secret Drum Corps and The Band of The Bermuda Regiment and Gombey Dancers, simply sets the scene for an inspiring showcase of one of Scotland's most loved events which this new recording readily encapsulates. It also features musical favourites such as Scots Wha Hae, Auld Lang Syne and the acclaimed Conquest of Paradise from Ridley Scott's epic Hollywood movie '1492' by Greek composer, Vangelis.

Coverage of this spectacular show was recorded by the BBC and includes the voice of famous Scottish actor and narrator, Tom Fleming while West Linton-based film production company, Electric Picture Machine, produced the extra material for the DVD.

Copies of the most successful show yet staged by the Tattoo may be obtained on both Video and DVD from The Tattoo Shop, 33-34 Market Street, Edinburgh EH1 1QB. These recordings, priced at £17.95 for DVD and £14.00(PAL) & £17.00(NTSC) for the Video (+ P&P where applicable), can also be purchased via the Internet at www.edintattoo.co.uk or from your local Video/DVD retailer.
